This annual week-long teacher institute, provided by The Learning Alliance, is designed to provide a meaningful, hands on professional development experience that reinforces the importance of student centered learning driven by big ideas and powerful essential questions, integrating the arts into learning while supporting rigorous standards-based instruction. Educators head back to schools inspired and invigorated for a new year.
Enriched Literacy 101
The Magic Pencil: Creating A Better Future
This week long training is a comprehensive experience designed to unpack Social Emotional, Foundational and Applied Literacy through a Moonshot Enriched Literacy 101 experience. Inspired by the book Malala's Magic Pencil by Malala Yousafzai, we will experience the power of words to change the world.
Read It, Write It, Build It: Applied Literacy in Action
Immerse yourself in a STEAM experience this summer and learn the tools of design thinking to support literacy skills. Inspired by Peter Brown's book The Wild Robot, we will explore the intersection of nature and technology through observation, iteration, and creation. We will learn how to develop compassion and empathy through powerful hands-on learning that includes coding, art-making, makerspaces, and more.
Together we will cultivate a continuous learning culture that grows compassionate, creative, literate citizens who will improve our world, not just today, but well into the future.
