For those who have already attended the Enriched Literacy 101 week, there will be a separate track for a 201 experience, diving deeper into Applied Literacy.

Applied Literacy 201

Coming Soon!

Open to all K-5 classroom teachers, ESE and ELL support staff, special area teachers, teaching artists, literacy coaches and administrators seeking to deepen knowledge and skills and improve practice.

Together we will cultivate a continuous learning culture that grows compassionate, creative, literate citizens who will improve our world, not just today, but well into the future.

Join the journey!

More Information...

Who is this institute for?
The Learning Alliance supports the Moonshot Moment goal of 90% of third graders in Indian River County reading on grade level. So to that end, this week long professional development institute will primarily be for all those who serve those K-3 students, including elementary classroom teachers, special area teachers, ESE and ELL, literacy coaches and administrators.

I'm not sure if that will be me next year. Can I still attend?
Absolutely. This will be an incredibly valuable, educational, and inspirational experience for everyone involved, as we are focusing on best practices in enriched literacy instruction, including social emotional learning, foundational literacy skills and applied comprehension. This makes it relevant and accessible for ALL educators.

What is the Moonshot Practitioner Certification?
This week in the summer will give a 101 level overview of the content of our Moonshot Enriched Literacy Certification. We have designed this curriculum to provide the deep skills and knowledge needed to grow a Moonshot Literacy Corps that will ensure schools are able to create a literacy culture with well trained resources to support students in the classroom and through extended learning opportunities.

To become a Certified Moonshot Practitioner, candidates need to complete the Moonshot Enriched Literacy curriculum in a professional learning cycle that consists of three steps:

  • LEARN (through in-person workshops and online micro-credentials)

  • DO (implementation through micro-credentials and job embedded training)

  • REFLECT (in a professional learning cohort)

What does the week cost?

The week costs approximately $1000 per participant. But as an educator in the School District of Indian River County, it's free to you! Thanks to The Learning Alliance and generous Moonshot Community partners, participation for up to 50 educators is covered by a scholarship

Anything else I should know?

  • Hours: 8a-4p, Mon-Fri

  • Breakfast, drinks & snacks will be available throughout the program week.

  • Lunch will be provided daily.

  • There will be additional optional social opportunities throughout the week to connect with your professional learning community, including a closing celebration.
